Domestic Abuse

One thing I have learned through prosecuting petitions for orders of protection is that domestic abuse transcends all races and ages.  Some of the cases I prosecuted this week really disturbed me with females having black eyes, battered and bruised faces, and eyeballs with blood in them.  I wonder how one could do that to the one they love and then I realized its not about love, its about control.  Its all about control.  When the abuser loses that control, they resort to violence.  Most of the time, this abuse has been occurring psychologically and when this fails to control the victim, the abuser turns to violence.  Thank God for organizations like Citizens Against Spouse Abuse.  Without their assistance, there would be thousands of victims stuck in abusive relationships.  If you know someone that is in an abusive relationship or is being abused point them to CASA and hopefully we can help.
